Entertainment-
- Ax Throwing – Blade & Timber Ax Throwing – Book a lane and throw some axes. It is a 90 minute experience. Don’t worry as it starts with a safety session. Let your partner win, of if they are beating the pants off you just say you let them win! You can get apps or a drink while you are here is you would like. **Disclaimer** At the time of writing this the location is not open yet. Their website says coming soon.
· Bowling – Royal Crest Lanes – Bowling is a tried and true date night event. There is not much more to say about bowling other than remember that the purpose is to have a higher score. I play golf rules. That is unless I use the bumpers. 😊 No shame in your game if you have to use the bumpers!
Dinner –
· Fields and Ivy – So Fields and Ivy is a go to around my house. They have great beer options (not my favorite but friends have said they are great) and great food. If you want something light get a salad. If you want something a little heavier get a pizza. The Pig and Fig is super awesome.
· Tacos – Taqueria La Pasadita – This place is no frills. That is my one and only warning. Now that you have my warning get ready for the most amazing street tacos you can find. This place is cheap but it will be one of the best meals of your life. They don’t have a website so just look at their 4.7 star rating on Google.
Dessert – Who doesn’t like something sweet. Pick up a treat for your honey.
· Sylas & Maddy’s – Sylas & Maddy’s opened in Lawrence in 1997 and has been a hit ever since. This ice cream is the best I have ever had. I am lactose intolerant but I either take meds or suffer through the pain for this ice cream. There are about 30 options daily and if you would like to take this ice cream to the next part of the date they have pints to go.
· Mass Street Soda & Sweets – Another great after dinner sweet treat would be to get a few sodas and/or candy from the soda shop. They have over 1000 to choose from so the pickeyest is bound to find something. They also have many bottles for the most adventurous as well like ranch, bacon, and corn. Their walls are lined with soda after soda from around the world. Grab a few sodas and some candy for the next part of the date.
Stargazing – Lastly if the night is good, go stargazing. Many people have suggested a few places but below are the most common.
· Clinton Lake Park was the most common. They are open 24/7. You could go to the swim beach if before 9pm. I would assume after 9pm as long as you are not swimming you would be fine but do this at your own risk. Bring a blanket and your snacks from earlier with a small Bluetooth speaker and sit out and look at the stars.
· Wells Overlook was another common one – Wells Overlook is a very pretty place during the day. There is not much out there in the way of lights to get in the way of the stars. This park is not patrolled as much as others at night so unsure of how safe it is. I would scout it out first.
· Quite a few people also mentioned Lone Star Lake Park. This park is about 10 miles outside of Lawrence though so may not be for everyone.
· Lastly another one many people mentioned was getting involved with the Astronomy Associates of Lawrence. This involves other people so may not be appropriate for a second date but may work out better for future stargazing opportunities.
