Sunfire Ceramics Downtown was opened in 1997. The building was originally a cottage build in 1927. The studio has a garage door that makes a nice spring or fall day amazing. The studio opens up to paint in the nice weather.
Sunfire is a ceramics shop that makes you the artist. You go in, select the item you want to paint, and then you make a piece to take home. They offer many items including food safe dinnerware. They have a wide selection of plates, cups, bowls and platters safe for the dishwasher and microwave. They also have many decorative accents including picture frames, vases, candlesticks, switch plates, tiles and garden art.
You can spend the day inside or paint on the patio. When going in to Sunfire Ceramics choose an item. Pottery items are priced on the tag. Add a $4 paint fee (which includes 4 – 6 colors, the clear coat and the kiln firing. After fired the colors will be bright and shiny. If you would like to do things from the comfort of your own home they even offer take home kits. These kits include 5 colors. You then can bring back the items for firing.
Whether doing things at home or in the shop it will take 3 to 5 days for them to process and fire them.
